#1. Embrace Unconditional Love

Ah! The unconditional love that movies and songs are made of. The only real-life experience of unconditional love is through a mother.

This lays the foundation for being a great mom. Loving your child unconditionally is what makes you a great mother.

But it can be really hard to project such unconditional love in this busy age! Trying to juggle a job, a house, or “where’s the keys”, “Where’s your shoes!?”, “Where’s your homework”, and all while trying to cook a meal for the family,

                                                               “can drive any mother nuts!”

In these moments you might feel so flustered and tired, and maybe feeling sad that you don’t have the time to give your children that extra attention, that extra warmth!

I’m here to tell you that there are simple ways to project this extra love. And that is by simply hugging them! Yes, it’s that simple, even for a minute, just hug your child. A silent warm fuzzy hug to your child can go a long way amidst your busy lifestyle!

                                                                       “Warm Fuzzy Hug”

“Someone once asked me, “What is Unconditional love?”, I looked at my mother”

Unconditional love also means accepting your child and cherishing them for who they are. They are their being, they come with their unique flaws and all.

By accepting them, you are building a confident child. This child won’t fear anything or anyone’s opinion, because the only opinion that matters to them has already been received.  And that’s from you mama.

Your acceptance is all that they crave, it is the sunlight to the plant. You can feed healthy food to your child. But the sunlight comes from your acceptance and love. And that’s what makes you a great mama!

Not only will they be confident but your bond with your children will be strong and indestructible.

The secret ingredient is to make them feel loved and valued unconditionally. Flaws and all mama!

#2. Patient Mom!! Makes a Great mom!

I get it, your baby’s nonstop crying, your toddler turning your house upside down and your teens testing your patience can break you!

It’s important to understand how you can handle such challenging situations with grace and kindness.

You must be thinking;

“But it’s hard! How to be patient by just thinking of being patient! It doesn’t work like that.”

And you are right! We have to think about “Patience” in a whole new way!

1.    Find Humour in the Situation

When you see your toddler making your tidied-up living room her castle, with pillows everywhere, and building her fortress.

“Before you get angry, just watch them.”

Look at how their little imagination is running wild, look at their creativity. Embrace their determination to get their tiny hands around pillows that are twice their size and build their castle.

This calls for your inner child to jump in with them! Play with them and help them build their castles! And this is what makes a great mom!

After all, time passes by so fast. Only for a few years will they remain as toddlers. This is the time to give them space to explore their creativity freely and in a nurtured environment.

And when it comes to cleaning it up, involve your toddler as well, teach them that when they make a mess they have to help clean it up too!

So when picking things up, give your toddler very small items to put into boxes or items to organize. It will help with their fine motor skills and instill a sense of responsibility at a young age. This is what makes you an amazing mom!

2.    Pinning Funny Parenting Quotes

What makes a great mom more than a mom who turns tough situations into funny moments?

Pinning up funny parenting quotes or cartoons around the house is a great way to turn around a tense family atmosphere. For example,

“Raising kids is a walk in the park. Jurassic Park!

This will create a fun and light-hearted atmosphere among the family! It will even make you laugh! Keep changing the quotes every week for a fresh dose of humor.  On great days, switch to heartwarming quotes expressing gratitude for your amazing kids.

This will make your children see you as a fun mom. They will embrace you when you compliment them with heartwarming quotes. Even after you just mentioned previously they were dinosaurs.

Let’s get this straight, Motherhood can be chaotic! and unpredictable at times! And it’s not easy to be patient even with 100s of tips. It’s a matter of practicing patience within yourself and your child. When you encounter a situation that tests your patience. Try to remember that patience pays off in the long run and provides a healthier upbringing for your child.

#3. Trust Your Great Motherly Instincts!

Yes! We are mothers who have superpowers aka gut feelings, about what’s best for our child. Remember, your maternal instincts never fail!

Trusting in your instincts also means believing in your ability to make the right decisions for your kids, even when they are hard choices. A great mom possesses the most accurate and powerful instincts! We never go wrong!

Once you embrace and trust your motherly instincts, this automatically makes you confident. All the actions that come after you trust yourself will be done authentically. They will be guided by your great motherly instincts.

#4. What Makes a Great Mom is Celebrating Their Milestones

Whether it’s big or small, celebrate every milestone like your life depends on it!

Send a message to your kids that you see them. You see their efforts and they are appreciated and valued. It’s very important as mothers to boost our children’s self-esteem and confidence.

It is at home they find their confidence, once they find your acceptance and value towards them, they will feel motivated to continue striving for success.

This has to be the one thing where you literally, I mean literally “Drop everything”, and celebrate those milestones, BIG AND SMALL. Whether it’s their first steps or their first day of school, celebrate it!

Cut a cake, order their favorite dish, or cook them a treat! Go crazy!

But don’t exhaust yourself, mama! The only thing that matters is, you celebrate their milestones with them, big or small.

It could be something subtle as a long hug, or a family movie night, it doesn’t have to be extravagant, as long as your child sees and feels that they are valued and appreciated, you are doing your job right mama! You got this!

#5.  Practice Self-Care

“What makes a great mom is a mom who takes care of herself!”

Finally, we need to take care of you, mama! Taking care of yourself directly influences your kids’ happiness. Happy mom, happy children!

Self-care means taking care of your physical, mental, and emotional needs. By doing so, you can be the best mom you can be! Think of it as recharging and rejuvenating.

This can be done by various activities.  Get enough rest, exercise, and engage in hobbies you enjoy. The secret recipe to get this accomplished efficiently is to include your kids in self-care journeys. By watching how you take care of yourself, they will start to take care of themselves too. They will understand the importance of self-care and indulge in a peaceful mental state.

Here are self-care activities you can do with your children!

  • Meditation
  • Yoga
  • Reading a Book
  • Engaging in a creative hobby
  • Going for a walk
  • Enjoying a favorite snack

We all know that being a mother isn’t easy. It drains your battery, your energy, and even your patience. This is the perfect chance for both you and your children to get yourselves recharged. This practice of self-care will eventually lead to a happier and healthier family dynamic.

This is extremely essential for you to be the best mom you can be. And that is taking care of yourself!
